Bethlehem Bible College seeks to prepare Christian leaders to serve Arab churches and society. We train our students to model Christ-centered-ness, Godly humility, and biblical wholeness. As life-long learners, our graduates follow Jesus’ way of creative justice and mercy in both their personal and professional lives.

  Summary of College’s History:

In 1979, as principal of Hope Christian School in Beit Jala, Bishara Awad, saw many of his students travel abroad for university education.  Those who wanted to study theology, left the country, and many never returned.  Bishara set out to stem this trend and provide powerful discipleship training for Palestinians to remain in the Holy Land and serve their people. In the fall of 2012 after 33 years of leading the College, Dr. Bishara passed the torch of leadership to Rev. Dr. Jack Sara.

The College is a non-profit, interdenominational institution whose primary goal is to train Christian leaders to serve the churches and society in the Holy Land.  While doing this, the College seeks to strengthen the area’s declining Christian minority and promote reconciliation, harmony and dialogue with majority religious groups and communities in its sphere of influence.  It is the only institution of its kind in the West Bank that trains Palestinians in the Arabic language for a BA and MA in Biblical Studies and Christian Education. In addition, the College trains Mass Media students for work in the Media field and trains Palestinian Tour Guides for professional tour guiding. Additionally, the College provides community outreaches—among them language, literacy, first aid and computer courses; media training; counseling; women’s empowerment events; and summer camps for children.

The College accepts students from all denominations and offers courses from an outstanding faculty, who combine high academic standards with deep spiritual commitment to Christ. Graduates of BBC have pursued various careers and have committed themselves to service within their communities as pastors, teachers, tour guides, media personnel and laypersons.  Some have continued their education and received advanced degrees. Several have returned to BBC as members of faculty and staff.

The College’s various programs are accredited by MEATE (Middle East Association of Theological Education), by ATA (Asia Theological Association) and by the PA (Palestinian Authority) Ministry of Higher Education.   Several Bible Colleges and Seminaries worldwide also recognize our degrees.
